How to Spot an iPod Imposter. Here are a few tips:
1) Apple often packages the iPod product line in a clear plastic case - not in a cardboard box.
2) You probably have an imposter if the CD Disc contains file conversion and ripping software. Be wary if I-Tunes is not included on the disc.
3) Be wary if the scroll wheel does not scroll.
4) Be wary if you are unable to get I-Tunes to recognize your device.
5) Make sure the colors match-up with those that Apple has released with that model.
6) If you are buying a new iPod release - be wary of offers with steep discounts or those labeled "used" or "refurbished". Remember - this is a new release.
7) Be wary if tilting the device fails to display in landscape mode.
8) Amazon marketplace allows third parties to sell merchandise via Amazon.com. These purchases should be covered under the A-to-z Safe Buying Guarantee (see link below).
9) Ebay buyers should always take note of a seller's rating. Be sure to check all negative and positive feedback before purchasing any items.
